In this demonstration we will see our first installation of Windows Server 2012 R2, so need to have a machine or virtual platform (Virtual BOX) to begin with, in my case I have configured a PC with a processor I5 16GB Ram.

The system begins loading drivers:

After loading setup components will ask for the installation language:

It is interesting to see that this screen is gives us the option of "Repair your computer" in the case that had starting problems or that we were willing to load an available backup before a system failure.

As we see all we can see them, versions are for 64-bit "x 64". We have two versions, the Standard and the DataCenter with two options each one of them. A version is the usual with the graphical interface "GUI", and the other is the version "Core" it only shows the text without user interface console. We need to highlight, as we have seen, that version "Core" has certain limitations in terms of functionality and is somewhat cumbersome to move from "Core" to "GUI" a once installed. Select the version Windows Server 2012 Standart R2 (Server with a GUI).

We accept the terms of license.

As it is a new installation we will indicate the bottom option (Custom). If it is an update to Windows Server 2008 R2 could do it from here.

Once you have finished installing Windows Server 2012 on the first run it will ask us to a previous configuration, which will consist of the creation of the Admin user and your respective password.

The password will be a combination of uppercase, lowercase letters and digits.

The home screen corresponds to the administration of the server.

It is striking that the 'home' of the previous Windows desktops tab does not appear.

To shut down the computer, we can press Ctrl+alt+sup and then choose the symbol for off.
